Homework packets will be sent home every Monday (unless school is not in session on that day). Please check for a homework packet each Monday. Please let me know ASAP if a homework packet did not make it home.
If your child has forgotten homework, please have them use the websites listed at the bottom to work on their math and first grade words.
Please have your child work on written homework for about 15 minutes each night. You may modify the amount of homework your child completes if it is taking your child much longer to finish homework. PLEASE let me know this by writing on the front cover of the homework packet.
Work on reading activities for an additional 15 minutes.

DreamBox Learning - This is a program the district has purchased to enhance our math program. We use it at school, but you can use it at home too. You will receive a letter, with a personal code, explaining how to access it from this link: https://play.dreambox.com/login/yztw/lowerses.
Spelling City - This is a website where I have entered all of our spelling lists. Your child can play games to practice their first grade words, at home. Your child will take his/her spelling list on this website and will print out the results to take home to you. This site allows all children to have the time they need to take their test. They can have the word or sentence repeated as many times as they need and can even take re-tests. You can access this site by going to http://www.spellingcity.com/swendling/.
The PTO has generously paid for us to have a Spelling City class account. Your child's login name is the first initial of his/her name, followed by his/her last name. Please note, if this login doesn't work, add your child's student number (in our classroom) to the end of their login. The password is your child's student number in our classroom. (Hint: The number on his/her coat hook and mailbox.)
