The string lesson program will resume on Tuesday, September 13. Everyone who took part in the lesson program last year is invited back this year. Lesson schedules will be posted outside the Band Room, given to each student and available from Mr. Kyle or Mr. Weiner. Each student will need a lesson book: 6th & 7th grade: All for Strings Book 2 8th grade: All for Strings Book 3 If you need to get a book, here are two options: Go to http://www.musicarts.com order on line. Your order will be delivered to school. Fill out a Music & Arts form, available from me, and return it to me at school (allow up to two weeks for delivery). Music & Arts deliveries are made on Wednesdays. There are several good internet sources for lesson material as well: JW Pepper http://www.jwpepper.com Shar Music http://www.shar.com Music & Arts, Shar, and Southwest are also good sources for strings, rosin, and other accessories. | BIG CHANGE FOR THIS YEAR!!! Orchestra rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:00. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, October 11. You read that right – orchestra is rehearsing in the evenings this year. After careful thought, I have decided to follow the lead of the Concert Band and move our rehearsals to the evenings rather than before school. This will allow for longer rehearsals of 90 minutes instead of 45, and eliminates the need for students to get up early on Tuesdays. I realize this change may create some schedule conflicts, and will be happy to try to work out an arrangement so all interested students can participate in orchestra.
